Strolling along the Strand today, the Savoy has reopened after a massive refurbishment and the buildings look brand new.  The hotel would entertain the audiences who had enjoyed a night at the Theatre in Victorian times.   A few monarchs before this saw a Mr Gillingham, Banker of the Strand walk here.  He inherited Mary’s dowry after her death.  She wrote him in her will as did another murderess Elizabeth Jefferies of Epping Forest.  Nobody knows what his connection was.
