Extending the joy of Christmas is easy on this bank holiday (yep another one... this festive tide has gone on forever!) in the Garrick Arms, a splendid hostelry next to the Garrick Theatre where currently Maureen Lipman is playing a blinder in ‘When We Are Married’.  It is a dark farce where in the context of a marriage, people are hemmed in by manners, etiquette and tradition.  It reminds of the many layers to Mary’s character she feels quite complex at times but always brave because of the class she was born to.
