Part of Ebury Street in London is where Mozart spent some time in his youth composing, his family taking in London as part of the Grand Tour in 1760. As I walk along the road can imagine him sat on a stool scribbling down the next cantata or a lovely melody for a new year. Ebury Street is near the Belgravia part of Chelsea which was run down in Mozart’s time. Knightsbridge which now boasts Harrod’s was also known as a den of thieves and charlatan pick pockets so certainly not a place to wander alone at night a few hundred years ago.
