On a clear day...

(London Beach) ... you can see Saint Paul’s?  Just?  Corner.  Top left.  Better to see the sea for strictly speaking the River Thames is tidal.  It smells and washes up all sorts of incriminating evidence on this natural strip of sand beneath the National Theatre on the South Bank.  No one’s stripping down to their cossies just yet in spite of the sunshine.  Funny to think the glass and chrome horizon dead centre of the picture (spot the gherkin shaped building) would not have stood in Mary’s gay soirees in London.  Now we take this horizon as part of our heritage.  It is more familiar to us than our morning coffee.  We drink the hot stuff  like lemmings marching over Waterloo bridge as the city watches us age.

Picture taken whilst queuing for day tickets at the National for the Cherry Orchard.  The genius that is Kenneth Cranham is in the cast.
