Victorian Drinking Well
 
The stage coaches leaving Oxford to London in the 1800’s would have paused here for water before the 40 mile journey that could have taken 10 hours.  Stage coach robbers were rife.  In Mary’s day there was a regular waggon from Cheltenham that stopped in Henley.  The Birmingham Fly was also a popular form of horse carriage.
