The statue is grim and serious looking on Princes Street gardens today.  No humour that in fact we are standing in the rain leafleting in August and wearing water proof trousers!  Still, the greatest show on earth is going on all around us.  Pray for some sunshine.  If not the lights are shining inside the venues to create all sorts of wonderful imaginary worlds.  So let it rain!  It’s just the shoes are starting to leak here and colour my feet black. Still it is the colour of dirt so works well with the plot!
