boots made for walking

I begin packing me bags for the big trek up the A1 highway where all roads lead to... EDINBURGH!! This is a city I know well and so this metal cast map of the streets pictured above will not be necessary to find my way.  The metal map is outside the art gallery on Princes Street where you cut from the old to the new town.  I think it’s called the mound which is odd because it feels quite flat.  One thing I know is I will need good stout sturdy shoes but flip flops are so much fun!  Argh decisions on what to pack.  Whilst the city map in my head like this metal cast looks quite straight forward I know that many short cuts can often lead out onto the wrong side of the town.  I look forward to the many detours I am about to sign up for and the flappy moments where I have just a few moments to be in a completely different other place and resort to the sat nav on my mobile because the crowds have taken away all sense of direction.  Ah the crowds!  I remember now why I don’t want the flip flops.  Flimsy footwear, though eye catching, would last all of a day amongst that crowd on the mound.
