May Gray

The Catalina current in California is a haze that can make the May sky go grey and cloudy so they have nothing but June gloom to look forward to after wards, in the shape of milky white skies.  In war time Britain, Bomber Command were waiting for much the same thing so they could shower shiny foil sheets down on to enemy lines so German radar are blinded against the British aircraft in the skies.  This was the only way to target the major German cities.  Today I watch the grey skies from this wonderful ferris wheel on Brighton’s sea front and as my carriage is perched right at the top it’s chilling to imagine the sight of the WW2 sky being filled with fighter planes.  Thankfully the wheel keeps turning and my feet are soon back on the solid earth of the twenty first century.  Now I’m off to find Buck Rogers!
