shockingly awful portrait

This is our attempt at self portrait using a mobile the morning before we performed our short play at Komedia Theatre.  Portraiture is definitely a fine art particularly if you have an iconic image like for example Winston Churchill.  One of the artists known to have captured Churchill reputedly in a pose less dynamic than the premier desired was war artist Graham Sutherland.  Back in Oxford the Modern Art gallery shows Sutherland’s paintings.  The fine detail on Sutherland’s canvas is amazing; unlike our hesitant shot above where actress Kara and I are beheaded by the picture frame.  Photos taken on Brighton Pier (it’s behind us) were the start for some amazing fictitious adventures.  As we build up our story to present at Brighton Fringe we hope our plot can compete in some way with the many great war time stories that were inspired by this beach.
