mind the tunnel

Under the majestic Brighton Pavilion lies small tunnels making secret passageways for nobility to enjoy the sea air alone.  During the Blitz these passages were used by locals to get to the shelter of the wine cellar.  The South Coast is known for housing HMS Forward, a link of underground tunnels used to pass Naval Intelligence and help win the war.  Gracie Fields old house in Peacehaven, a long walk from the Pavilion, was used as special sick quarters for some of the 10,000 Naval staff that were on the ledgers of HMS Forward.  It’s onwards and upwards for us all in this forward looking city but who knows what secrets still lie under ground waiting to be discovered.
